Repair or stretch loose carpets
Avoid slippery floor waxes or polishes - use only non-slip finishes recommended for your flooring type.

Arrange furniture so there is a clear path of at least 36 inches (3 feet) wide through all rooms and hallways.
Avoid sharp corners or unstable furniture in walking routes.
Ensure seating is firm and has arms for easier standing.

Turning space for a wheelchair or walker: 60 inches (5 feet) in diameter - this allows for full turning without bumping furniture.
Ensure transitions between rooms (eg. thresholds) are smooth and level.
